Guided Tour of New Deal for Lawrence
Docents on hand to talk and walk with you about the Depression - era exhibit about Lawrence in the 1930's.
Archival footage of the WPA, Hurricane of 1938, Dust Bowl will be shown.
Audio of FDR's Fireside chats.

What? DraMatik plays The Swell Season - Folk Hip hop

LHC Summer Concert - for the Younger Generation.
Come and listen to DraMatik play folk hip-hop - a new, exciting cross-over genre. DraMatik (Andre Gonzalez,) takes the folk music of Irish musicians, The Swell Season, and transforms it into folk hip-hop. Never heard of it? Come and give it a try!
Concert is free and open to all.
Bring some supper. Beverages will be provided.

An exhibition by 4th Graders in the After School Collectors Clubs at the Robert Frost School and the Henry K. Oliver School comes to Lawrence Heritage State Park. On view through August.

Tour of Lawrence Hydroelectric Project

Events at the Lawrence Heritage State Park, 1 Jackson St. (978) 794-1655, through August 2010

Bread and Roses Tour
Wednesdays at 11:00 am
A one-hour walking tour focusing on sites and events of the famous Strike of 1912. Walk in the strikers' footsteps. Recommended to watch the 20 minute video "Collective Voices" at 10:30, prior to the walk. Weather permitting.

Waterpower Tour
Tuesdays at 10:00 am and Thursdays at 12 noon
Also known as the "dam tour." A walking tour of Lawrence's historic mill and canal district. Learn about Lawrence's historic textile mills and waterpower system-including the Great Stone Dam-which still harnesses the power of the Merrimack River. One to one and a half hours. One mile roundtrip. Weather permitting.

Gateway Tour
Mondays at 10:00 am.
Join us for a guided walking tour of the Gateway District, a focal point of revitalization in Lawrence. Visitors will learn about planned and current projects to transform this former industrial area into a mixture of residential, commercial and recreational usage. Tour lasts approximately one hour. Distance is one half to one mile. Weather permitting.

Narrated Boat Tours on the Merrimack River
Sundays at 4:00 pm, tentative start date July 11 through August 22
Reservations required (978) 794-1655. Meet at the Bashara Boathouse at Riverfront State Park on Eaton St. in South Lawrence. Rain or shine. Roundtrip tour lasts approximately two hours. Windbreaker, sunscreen and/or hat recommended (open boat).

Walking tours meet in the lobby of the Visitors Center at 1 Jackson Street, and are available at other times, along with indoor guided tours of the exhibits in the Visitors Center. Reservations recommended for groups (978) 794-1655
