Lawrence History Center Mission Statement

The Lawrence History Center, established in 1978, is a private, non-profit, 501(c)3 organization dedicated to: the collection, preservation, arrangement, description and exhibition of documents, photographs, oral histories and other artifacts that constitute the historical record of Lawrence, Massachusetts; preservation of the historic Essex Company buildings and courtyard,the organization that built the city of Lawrence; provision of access to the materials and site for education and research; usage of this cultural asset to contribute to the educational,economic,cultural and social enhancement of the City and its residents.
