On the evening of October 3, 2012, friends and supporters of the Lawrence History Center met on the 6th floor of the Everett Mill for our 34th Annual Meeting.

LHC Board President, Pamela Yameen, welcomed our guests and thanked them for their efforts in making the Centennial year a success. She then invited June Black (Regional and Constituent Services Director/Office of Congresswoman Niki Tsongas) who led the Presentation of Congressional Record documenting the Centennial of the Bread and Roses Strike of 1912. The Congressional Record is now part of the LHC collection and may be viewed by visitors at our archive.

Pamela then called to order the business meeting. The LHC membership proceeded to:

  • Approve the Minutes, October 20, 2011(84.16 KB)
  • Approve the FY2012 Treasurer’s Report (page 9 of FY2012 Annual Report)
Chet Sidell, LHC Board Treasurer, presented the FY2012 Treasurer's Report. While LHC finds itself on solid ground financially, we are looking to expand our funding base to further secure LHC operations going forward.
  • Approve the Board Slate, 2012-2013 (110.6 KB)
Marcia Sharp, LHC Vice President, spoke favorably about our talented staff and engaged Board of Directors, giving due credit to President Pamela Yameen for her extraordinary leadership this past year. In addition to three new board directors brought on last year (Kathleen Curry, Jim Sutton, and Francina Victoria), the Board is currently identifying its needs and will consider appointing additional members as plans for 2013 unfold.

With the adjournment of the business meeting, LHC Director, Susan Grabski, thanked the LHC Board of Directors for the generosity and talent, the LHC staff and volunteers, as well as, all those who supported the operations and programs of the History Center throughout the year. She went on to highlight the many events and programs that took place across the year in commemoration of the Centennial of the Strike of 1912 and credited their success to the collective effort of many individuals and organizations. For more highlights, please see the LHC FY2012 Annual Report (1.67 MB).

Amita Kiley and Jenn Williams also addressed the group, expressing their respective accomplishments and then the group then enjoyed a Centennial Retrospective Slideshow.

We thank our membership for their ongoing support and look forward to another great year in 2013!
