Dennehy Genealogy~Can you help solve the puzzle?
[Speaking about the meeting at LHC...] Some of us had met many years ago and some had never met. Everyone in attendance, with the exception of my wife Rosemary, is a descendant of Cornelius and Jane (nee Kelleher) Dennehy of Millstreet, County Cork, Ireland. Five of their children came to the United States between 1890 and 1904. They originally settled in Lawrence because Jane's sister, Nora Kelleher Reardon and family, settled in Lawrence in 1890. The children who came to Lawrence were:
Margaret Dennehy O'Brien (1870-1956) - She was the first to come to Lawrence around 1890. She was a domestic and cook. She lived in Lawrence until 1927 when her daughter Katherine O'Brien married William Ford of Lawrence. Katherine was an Assistant Principle at the Lawrence Street School. William Ford was an outstanding athlete at Lawrence High School around 1920. Margaret moved to New York with her daughter and son in law. She died there in 1956.
Jane Dennehy Lynch (1877-1952) - She arrived in Lawrence in 1903. Jane married Michael Lynch in Lawrence in 1909. She had a candy store on Bailey St. She lived in Lawrence until her death. We have lost touch with her descendants.
Hanora (Nora) Dennehy (1874 -1955) - Nora came to Lawrence in 1893 and lived with her sister Margaret. She worked as a domestic in Lawrence. In 1903 Margaret and Nora returned to Ireland to visit their ailing mother. Nora met Peter Dennehy (no relation) and fell in love. She decided not to return to the US. She lived in the Millstreet area of County Cork until her death. Some of her children came to the US and lived in the Boston area.

Hannah Dennehy McCarthy (1882-1976) - Hannah came to the US in 1904 using her sister Nora's name and ticket, when Nora decided to stay in Ireland. Hannah married Timothy McCarthy in 1909 and had 7 children. She had a twin sister Julia who remained in Ireland. They never saw each other again. Hannah lived in Lawrence until her death.

John Dennehy (1876-1941) - John came to Lawrence in 1897 because his sisters lived there. The family story is his sisters drove him crazy so he went west ending up in California. Little is know about his life after he left Lawrence.
The people who visited the center and in the picture from left to right are:

Dennis McCarthy - Son of Tom McCarthy, grandson of Hannah Dennehy McCarthy
Mary McCarthy Waight - Daughter of Cornelius McCarthy, granddaughter of Hannah Dennehy McCarthy
Tom McCarthy - Son of Hannah Dennehy McCarthy
Nora Dennehy O'Leary - Granddaughter of Hanora Dennehy. She currently lives in Killarney, Ireland.
Beverly McCarthy Reed - Daughter of Cornelius McCarthy, granddaughter of Hannah Dennehy McCarthy
Bill Fitzpatrick - grandson of Katherine O'Brien Ford and great grandson of Margaret Dennehy O'Brien
I continue to research my Lawrence family roots I am looking for descendants or relatives of:
Jane Dennehy Lynch (1877-1952) She married Michael Lynch and lived on Bailey, Osgood, and Howard Streets in Lawrence
Hanora Kelleher Reardon (abt 1845 - 1927) She was married to Daniel Reardon and lived on Broomfield, Park, and Exchange Streets in Lawrence
Francis (Frank) Monahan - He was born in 1884. In 1906 he was living at 116 Jackson St when he married Elizabeth Corrigan.
Ann Ford McHugh (1840-1912) She married John McHugh. When she died in 1912 she was living at 29 Columbus Ave in Lawrence.
Please contact me, Bill Fitzpatrick, at billsfamilysearch@gmail.com if you have anything to share! I look forward to hearing your stories.
