Hiram Mills ~ Chief Engineer - Essex Company

On October 19,2009 Hiram Mills, chief engineer of the Essex Company, Lawrence, was inducted into the RPI Hall of Fame. Mills was honored for his hydraulic engineering expertise. He developed the slow sand filtration water system - that radically change public health in Lawrence - for the better! Mills and his wife had no family. His estate was left to the mill workers and their families in Lowell and Lawrence, MA. Essex Company Holdings
