Phil Laudani- Lawrencian Through & Through
Hi All,
Phil was a long time friend to the LHC. In addition to his activities
mentioned in the obituary, he escorted the LHC trips to Ellis Island
and conducted many oral history interviews. He had a real love for
Lawrence and was a devoted LHC member for many years.

LAWRENCE — Philip A. Laudani, 84, of Lawrence, died Sunday, Nov. 8,
2009 at the Methuen Health and Rehabilitation Center.
The son of the late Joseph and Rosa (Fascione) Laudani, Philip was born
in Lawrence, Sept. 4, 1925. He was educated in Lawrence schools and was
a graduate of Lawrence High School. Prior to his enlistment into World
War II, he was employed in the Wood Mill in Lawrence.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. He
served with Company C, 59th Signal Battalion, and was a Telephone and
Telegraph Lineman, seeing service in Northern France, Rhineland,
Ardennes, and Central Europe. He was an expert rifle marksman, and was
awarded several decorations and awards for his service.
For many years, he was employed as a Licensed Medical Social Worker for
the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, taking many courses in this field,
until his retirement. He attended Holy Rosary Church-Corpus Christi
Parish, where he was very active in his early years. He was a longtime
member of the parish choir, and the Holy Name Society. He was a member
of the Lawrence Lodge of the Sons of Italy.
He was well-known in Lawrence politics, faithfully attending all City
Council meetings and very often addressing the council on city issues.
He ran several times for City Council and School Committee. He was a
local Lawrence historian authoring several books; "The Mayors of
Lawrence" and "Essays In Time". He was an expert in the history of
Lawrence. He was a member of the Lawrence Historical Commission and the
Lawrence History Center.
He is survived by a sister-in-law, June Laudani of Chicago; and many
nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his special care
givers, Humberto and Eileen Martinez, and their son, Luis of Lawrence.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be held Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at 10
a.m. in Holy Rosary Church-Corpus Christi Parish, Essex Street,
Lawrence. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery,
Lawrence. Relatives and friends may call Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m. at
the Boles Memorial-Baron-McAuliffe-Yameen Funeral Home, 184 Jackson
St., Lawrence (978-686-0386).
